Learning outdoors forms a big part of our curriculum at The Oaktree School and all children from Nursery to Year 2 spend a large amount of their school day outside. At The Oaktree we recognise not only the many spectacular benefits to children from being in the open air, but also how vital this is to their development in today's world where so much time is perhaps spent in the safety of their own home.
The government support schools and actively encourage them to increase opportunities for children to get active. Being physical supports their emotional, physical, social and mental wellbeing and at the same time can support their academic achievements.
The Oaktree Curriculum is designed to offer all children, in addition to their play and lunch break times, time outside to support all curriculum areas. In addition to the many benefits this brings, it also means we utilise the extensive grounds that The Oaktree has to offer and teach in smaller class groups with classes being split into indoor and outdoor teaching groups.
